Cushions

Cushions are not only essential items in your home, they're the perfect vehicle for showing off the vibrant colours and interesting patterns of Japanese fabric! Our selection of patterns changes with each new arrival of fabric from Japan.

The fabric is a heavy-duty canvas style cotton which is very hard-wearing. The opening on the rear side is fixing-free: no buttons or zips, no fuss!

Both both pre-filled cushions and just the covers are available, but currently we have low stock and are not selling them online, They should be back soon! In the meantime you can visit us at a market to see what we have left in stock, or send us a message if you have specific requests.

NOREN doorway curtains

These will also be familiar to anyone who’s been to Japan! Shop owners hang these noren curtains out the front of the shop to indicate that they’re open; they are hung at entrances to traditional bath houses and inns; and many people also use them inside their homes. Noren make a stylish addition to any internal or external doorway. Use them for privacy, to mark transitions between different parts of your home, or to announce the entrance to an important room or space. They’re great for bedrooms, ensuites, guest rooms, and passageways.

Material

High-quality cotton fabric made in Japan. The designs, colours and feel of the fabric are all vastly superior of the 'Japanese-style' fabrics available in mainstream stores in Australia.

Please note that all fabrics are one-sided, but as shown in the picture to the right, the pattern is also clearly visible on the reverse side. These fabrics look great from any angle!

Sizes and mounting

The curtains are designed to fit any standard doorway width (openings of up to 950 mm wide - not including the frame). They vary slightly in length as listed below. All curtains are sewn at the top as shown here so you can easily insert a curtain rod or dowel (or even a wire) to hang them on. Just put a bracket or nail on each side of the top of the door frame to rest the rod on. Alternatively, just tack the curtain directly to the frame. We can also make to order in non-standard sizes.

We also make noren curtains to order for restaurants and shops in the traditional Japanese style! Below are some of the wonderful shops in Melbourne we've worked with before. Please contact us for more details.
